Santé Sauvage NAC provides 600 mg of N-acetylcysteine (NAC) pure per capsule, produced via biofermentation to ensure high purity and quality. NAC is a powerful antioxidant and a precursor to glutathione, which supports liver detoxification, respiratory health, and cellular protection from oxidative stress.

The N-acetylcysteine (NAC) is a natural derivative of the amino acid L-cysteine. It is best known for its role as a precursor to glutathione, one of the body's most important antioxidants, which helps neutralize harmful free radicals and supports cellular health. Thanks to its antioxidant properties, NAC is widely used to protect the liver, especially when exposed to toxins or medications like paracetamol, where it can prevent liver damage.

NAC also plays a significant role in respiratory health. It can thin mucus in the lungs, improving airflow and relieving symptoms of conditions like chronic bronchitis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and cystic fibrosis. Beyond physical health, research suggests NAC may offer benefits for mental health, including potential support for mood regulation, cognitive function, and reducing symptoms associated with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and addiction.

Additionally, NAC is being studied for its potential to support the immune system, aid detoxification and reduce oxidative stress linked to aging and environmental pollutants. It is available as an oral supplement and is also administered in high doses in medical settings for acute conditions like drug overdose.

HELPFUL NOTE:

Why NAC May Have a Sulfur Smell (Similar to Rotten Eggs)

N-acetylcysteine (NAC) is a derivative of the amino acid cysteine, which contains a thiol group (–SH) — a sulfur atom bonded to hydrogen. Thiol groups are the same chemical characteristic responsible for the smell of garlic, onions, and rotten eggs (hydrogen sulfide). This sulfur content is inherent to the molecule itself, not a contaminant or a sign of degradation: it is simply part of NAC’s chemical structure, and it is precisely what gives it its therapeutic value (it is a precursor to glutathione, the body’s primary antioxidant).

Because the odor comes from the active compound itself, masking it would require adding artificial flavors or scents, which some brands do — and this is exactly what we choose not to do, to keep the product pure.
We do not add any flavors or compounds to mask NAC’s natural odor.
